Pies for Good Causes!

The Cub Scouts are taking orders until November 16th for pies for your Thanksgiving Dinner!
The Pie flavors?... DELICIOUS!...

1. Chocolate Cream
2. Pumpkin Cream
3. Coconut Cream
4. Banana Cream

Contact any cub scout (or their moms) to make an order. They are trying to get each cub scout to sell at least five pies. The pies are selling for $10 each. The money will go toward their summer cub scout camps and pine wood derby costs. The pies will go toward the smile on your face and the good feeling in your mouth and tummy after Thanksgiving dinner!
The cub scouts will hand deliver them to you the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving.
**************************************
Want to make the pie you buy from the cub scouts a gift that keeps on giving?... we are donating pies as a Stake Relief Society to the nearby youth Correctional Facility (a yearly Stake tradition). They are in need of 300 pies this year. Make (or buy one of these beauties) and deliver them to the Happy Valley Building all day on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. You could always slave in the kitchen to donate to the Correctional Facility and then donate again by rewarding your hard work with a pie as sweet as a cub scout!

For information about the pie sale for cub scouts contact Shirley Jorgensen.

For information about the donation of pies for the correctional facility, contact a member of the RS presidency.

Missionary experiences

We have such fabulous missionaries in our ward. They are anxiously engaged in a good cause. They are assisting the ward in bringing the gospel to everyone within our ward boundaries (actually, and beyond). They need our prayers and assistance in the work. Here are a few ways we can be effective missionaries:
  1. Be friends, genuinely, with all of your neighbors.
  2. Find ways to serve them, even if they aren't going to 'join the church'. You never know what seeds you are planting. Be a 'good' example of a Latter-Day Saint. There WILL be fruits of our labors, although we may never see them, they will come in some way or another, eventually. It is very gratifying and healing to serve others... so you can't go wrong!
  3. Try not to judge who you think will or won't accept the gospel. We are all Heavenly Father's children. The gospel is for ALL of us.
  4. Trust  in the Lord. When it seems difficult, or impossible, if we are being obedient to the will of the Lord He WILL provide a way for us to accomplish the thing He asks us to do. (1 Nephi 3:7)
The missionaries were instructed to ONLY eat at homes where they are teaching or leaving a message with someone. They are only to spend one hour in a home (maybe an hour and a half if they are eating and teaching). They are trying to be very faithful and obedient in what they are asked to do. I am challenging you to be just as faithful and obedient and FEED THEM.  This will require prayer and possibly fasting to find someone for them to teach in your home. Set a date and ask the Lord to help you find someone to have over to teach. I feel confident He will provide a way. Call me when you have your date set. I have set aside Tuesday September 14 to fast for everyone who desires to have a missionary experience... including me. I know that as we strive to be obedient and do as we are asked to do, the Lord will strengthen us and give us courage to talk to our friends and neighbors and share the greatest blessing we have in our lives.

Sunday RS Lesson today... Chapter 17 "The Church of Jesus Christ Today"

Nancy shared a fabulous lesson with us today on the Restoration of the Gospel.
We watched this video (you can watch it below!)and she shared her strong witness that Jesus is the Christ, that Joseph Smith was and is a prophet, that Thomas S. Monson is our Prophet today and that The Book of Mormon is true. We can know these things by asking God in prayer and through the Holy Ghost. How grateful we are for these truths and God's organization and gospel restored on the earth today!
