The Ward Christmas Party is fast approaching on December 4th and the Activities Committee is in need of table decorations. There will already be table cloths on the table - you just bring your decor. We will have 30 tables! So we need LOTS of help. Please let me (Kristine Wright) know how many tables you are willing to decorate. We will be setting up the church on Saturday morning and need your table decorated between the hours of 10am - 2pm the day of.
Thanks for all your help.

Ward Christmas Party - help needed!
The Activities Committee is looking for a few volunteers to make some potatoes for the Ward Christmas Party on December 4th. We need some 'funeral, church, supreme' whatever you want to call them potato casseroles. We are in need of 20 9x13 dishes. If you would be willing to make some please email me (Kristine Wright) to let me know. I will be sending a sign up around on Sunday as well. If you email me, your name will already be on the printed out sign up.
Please use this recipe so they are all the same. It's easy and delicious, so be sure to sign up!
Potato Supreme
8-10 potatoes boiled – not quite done yet, then grate
2 cans cream of Chicken soup
1 pt. sour cream
½ c chopped onions (optional, if you don’t like onions)
2 c. grated cheese
Salt & pepper
½ c melted butter
Mix together all ingredients except butter. Top with 1 1/2 c. crushed cornflakes or Ritz crackers. Then drizzle 1/2 c. melted butter over cornflakes.
Bake @ 350 for 25 minutes.
Thanks so much for being willing. We don't quite have enough ovens to get them all cooked on our own.

Phoenix Children's Hospital Project - "Carter Cares"
Julianne King has found a way to give back to this wonderful hospital. We are helping to make 27 bags (the number of baby beds in the NICU) filled with items like blankets, snacks, toothbrushes, and hairbrushes for parents who, like Julianne, find themselves unexpectedly spending time at the hospital with a sick or injured baby.

Super Saturday- Cheryl Weathersby's Cranberry-Habanera Jelly Recipe
| Cranberry-Habanera Jelly is a unique, easy and fun to make recipe. It will make your mouth water, your ears pop and your body temperature rise. This recipe is sure to please friends and family when you serve it at your next party or gathering. |
Ingredients
Although a bit of effort to prepare, this sweet and hot jelly goes well poured over a brick of cream cheese or just atop some crackers. It is also good when melted and used as a glaze for chicken or pork. Use caution to avoid breathing the vapors while processing or cooking the chiles. Be sure to wear food-safe gloves when handling habanera peppers and wash hands, knives, and cutting boards thoroughly, first in cold water and soap and then again with hot water and soap. Do not touch eyes, nose, mouth, or other sensitive body parts when handling the chiles.
17 to 20 habanera peppers (about 1 cup diced)
1 1/2 to 2 large red bell peppers (about 2 cups diced)
1 1/2 to 2 large red bell peppers (about 2 cups diced)
1 1/2 cups white vinegar
1/2 cup whole cranberries, fresh or frozen
1/2 cup dried, sweetened cranberries (Craisins)
7 cups granulated sugar
1/3 cup fresh lemon juice
3 ounces liquid fruit pectin (1 pouch Certo)
Wearing food-safe gloves, stem, seed, and dice habanera peppers. Seed and dice the bell peppers. Process peppers in a food processor or blender until minced. Add the vinegar and continue processing until smooth. Heat a 6 1/2-quart stockpot over medium-high heat. Add the pepper slurry, and the whole and dried cranberries. Cook, simmering and stirring often, until the whole cranberries burst, about 6 to 8 minutes. (Do not breathe the vapors!) Remove from heat. Use an immersion blender or food processor and puree until smooth.
Return stockpot to heat, add sugar and cook, stirring, until the sugar is dissolved. Add the lemon juice. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer, stirring frequently, for 20 minutes. Increase heat to medium-high and bring the mixture to a rolling boil, add the pectin, and, while stirring constantly, cook for 1 minute. Remove from heat, ladle into sterilized containers, and process containers in a hot water bath for 10 minutes.
Yield: Makes 6 to 7 (8-ounce) jars

Pies for Good Causes!
The Cub Scouts are taking orders until November 16th for pies for your Thanksgiving Dinner! The Pie flavors?... DELICIOUS!...
1. Chocolate Cream
2. Pumpkin Cream
3. Coconut Cream
4. Banana Cream
Contact any cub scout (or their moms) to make an order. They are trying to get each cub scout to sell at least five pies. The pies are selling for $10 each. The money will go toward their summer cub scout camps and pine wood derby costs. The pies will go toward the smile on your face and the good feeling in your mouth and tummy after Thanksgiving dinner!
The cub scouts will hand deliver them to you the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving.
**************************************
Want to make the pie you buy from the cub scouts a gift that keeps on giving?... we are donating pies as a Stake Relief Society to the nearby youth Correctional Facility (a yearly Stake tradition). They are in need of 300 pies this year. Make (or buy one of these beauties) and deliver them to the Happy Valley Building all day on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. You could always slave in the kitchen to donate to the Correctional Facility and then donate again by rewarding your hard work with a pie as sweet as a cub scout!
For information about the pie sale for cub scouts contact Shirley Jorgensen.
For information about the donation of pies for the correctional facility, contact a member of the RS presidency.
