We have such fabulous missionaries in our ward. They are anxiously engaged in a good cause. They are assisting the ward in bringing the gospel to everyone within our ward boundaries (actually, and beyond). They need our prayers and assistance in the work. Here are a few ways we can be effective missionaries:
- Be friends, genuinely, with all of your neighbors.
- Find ways to serve them, even if they aren't going to 'join the church'. You never know what seeds you are planting. Be a 'good' example of a Latter-Day Saint. There WILL be fruits of our labors, although we may never see them, they will come in some way or another, eventually. It is very gratifying and healing to serve others... so you can't go wrong!
- Try not to judge who you think will or won't accept the gospel. We are all Heavenly Father's children. The gospel is for ALL of us.
- Trust in the Lord. When it seems difficult, or impossible, if we are being obedient to the will of the Lord He WILL provide a way for us to accomplish the thing He asks us to do. (1 Nephi 3:7)
The missionaries were instructed to ONLY eat at homes where they are teaching or leaving a message with someone. They are only to spend one hour in a home (maybe an hour and a half if they are eating and teaching). They are trying to be very faithful and obedient in what they are asked to do. I am challenging you to be just as faithful and obedient and FEED THEM. This will require prayer and possibly fasting to find someone for them to teach in your home. Set a date and ask the Lord to help you find someone to have over to teach. I feel confident He will provide a way. Call me when you have your date set. I have set aside Tuesday September 14 to fast for everyone who desires to have a missionary experience... including me. I know that as we strive to be obedient and do as we are asked to do, the Lord will strengthen us and give us courage to talk to our friends and neighbors and share the greatest blessing we have in our lives.
